The Importance of Personal Hygiene

In all the offices all over the world there is always someone who has bad body odor, or suffers from bad breath or just manages to look terribly unkempt and scruffy. Most people would avoid going near anyone with these kinds of problems, and no matter how efficient they are, their colleagues will avoid working with them.

In order to avoid yourself from becoming one of these unwanted office colleagues or family members, you just need to take a little more care of yourself and your appearance.

The problem areas which need to be taken care of are:

Body Odor: You cannot smell yourself, but others can. So bathe regularly, apply deodorant every day, even in winter and apply a perfume or cologne frequently. Do not re-wear clothes unless they have been washed, especially in summer. Clothes carry the residue of perspiration and they retain the bad odours.

Oral Hygiene: Brush your teeth at least twice a day and also floss regularly. Avoid chewing tobacco and gum. If you have eaten some strong flavored meals, which contain garlic and other such ingredients, rinse your mouth immediately after the meal.

Grooming and appearances: If your clothes are un-ironed and dirty, if your hair is unkempt and looks un-combed, if your shoes are scruffy, then you have already lost half the battle. Take care of your outward appearance also, that is what people see at first glance.

We often forget the importance of how we look and smell and the kind of persona we project to those who come in contact with us. Take care of yourself and your body so that they carry back a good impression about you.

Here is a cure for your sweating and odor issues.

Here in our location (Nova Scotia, Canada) most of our public buildings, schools, and offices are scent free due to persons who may have allergies. Therefore the importance of bathing regularly and the use of non-scented products is that much more important.

Maintaining personal hygiene is necessary for many reasons; these can be personal, social, for health reasons, psychological or simply as a way of life. Essentially keeping a good standard of hygiene helps to prevent the development and spread of infections, illnesses and bad odours. By being maintaining proper hygiene, people can feel more confident, especially in social situations. Many job interviews and such like are highly dependent of hygiene as many decisions are made by first impressions within the first few minutes of meeting; these decisions are often made in the sub-conscious. Our chances of succeeding either in work or social settings, or even with the opposite sex can be altered by our maintenance of hygiene.
